Dial-up is a telephone connection in a system of many lines shared by many users. A dial-up connection is established and maintained for a limited time duration. Dial-up Internet access is a form of Internet access that uses the facilities of the PSTN (Public Switched Telephone Network) to establish a connection to an ISP (Internet Service Provider) by dialing a telephone number on a conventional telephone line.
