Purpose
International Telecommunication Union (ITU) is the United Nations' specialized agency for information and communication technologies. It allocates global radio spectrum and satellite orbits, develops the technical standards that ensures networks and technologies seamlessly interconnect and strives to improve access to ICTs to underserved communities worldwide. An organization based on public-private partnership since its inception, ITU currently has a membership of 193 countries and almost 800 private-sector entities and academic institutions.
